This half day workshop will be an educational and interactive experience into process-based restoration techniques, accessible to community members of all ages and experience levels. This will be a hands-on introduction into the “how and why” of beaver dam analogs on the Central Coast.
What to expect:
- Tour of Dry Creek, now in its third year of restoration and home to 30 Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs)
- Hands on building experience: participants will learn how to build a BDA using hand tools and all natural materials
- Activities include trimming branches, shoveling soil and lifting rocks
- Participation in building a BDA is not required to attend
- Note: the creek will be dry, so you do not need to prepare for mud or water!

- Water
- Sun protection
- Sturdy work boots
- Long work pants
- Long sleeve shirt
- Snacks (optional)
Registered volunteers will receive a confirmation email
from City staff a few days in advance with more details.
