The City of San Luis Obispo’s Public Art Program seeks attention-detailed community members who want to practice note-taking and active listening skills during Box Art Jury discussions. These will most likely occur at The Ludwick Community Center on a routine basis. Engage SLO will list open shifts for community members to sign up to volunteer. Dates subject change; registered volunteers will be notified at least four weeks in advance.
Knowledge of art is not required, though art appreciation is encouraged. This is an excellent opportunity to be a 'fly on the wall' to observe the City's public jury process, objectively view public art submissions by talented local artists, and play an important role to support the organization and facilitation by the City's Public Art Coordinator. Volunteers will be successful in this role if they :
- are skilled at note-taking
- are comfortable on Excel spreadsheets (volunteers will be asked to quickly input numerical and qualitative data during jury breaks)
- are available to commit to the full shift
- have reliable transportation
Light refreshments and lunch are provided.
To learn more about this role, please reach out to the Volunteer Program ([email protected]) with any questions. More details will come in the form of a confirmation email to those volunteers who successfully respond to the Opportunity on Engage SLO (e.g., what to wear, bring, expect, etc.).
