The City of San Luis Obispo's Public Art Program seeks community members to help paint a community mural - no artistic experience necessary! Specific details like mural project concept, painting location, what to bring and expect will be emailed to registered volunteers in advance.
For each community mural project, volunteers can expect:
- To serve within San Luis Obispo
- All resources and supplies to be provided
- Staff on-site for the duration of the project to orient and guide
- To very likely get messy (stained with paint) as well as wet
- Personal protective gear to be provided (e.g., latex gloves, eye protection)
- To have a great time alongside friends and fellow community members!
Families and groups are welcome to volunteer and all volunteers must complete a Volunteer Waiver. 14+-year-olds can volunteer without a legal guardian present but must complete the Minor Volunteer Waiver version. Those 13 and under must have a parent or legal guardian on site for the duration of the service project.
Volunteers will hopefully walk away with:
- A greater understanding of the City's Public Art Program and the mural painting process
- A sense of pride for contributing to a community art projects that aims to beautify and enhance a neighborhood
- New skills and community connections!
